ACQUIZHEN

As we were getting ready to start production of this skincare line I was looking to come up with the name for the range which could communicate the properties of the brand. I was reading a document and the word ‘zen’ stood out strongly in the text. It resonated so strongly I knew that it would become part of the name. Zen is a type of Buddhism which emphasizes meditation and intuition. Those qualities of deep thought, peace and intuition are important components of the ACQUIZHEN approach.

We wanted to produce a range which is congruent with our intuition and thought that botanical riches can be utilised while showing care and consideration for the social and natural environment ingredients come from. The range is designed to be absolutely efficacious, the kind of product you want for your skin, and still gentle. I incorporated the prefix ‘Acqui’ meaning water and ‘h’ which is a symbol for humus i.e. earth. I feel that this reflects the holistic approach of fulfilling the needs of the customer with a highly effective range while maintaining integrity in treatment of the environment. It was later pointed out to me that the combination of ‘Acqui’ ‘h’ and ‘zen’ could be compactly described as meaning to gain possession of deep thought and intuition of the earth. This has definitely been true for me as while I researched ACQUIZHEN´s ingredients I have come to an even greater understanding and appreciation for the powerful nature of plants and how they relate to their habitat and the people who live alongside them.
